Now we are looking for a Senior Java Engineer for PitchBook.

About the role

In this role, you will be fully responsible for one of the most exciting parts of the product: the core search functionality. You will have the opportunity to work with high-load systems, multithreading, and concurrency in practice, among other advanced topics.

PitchBook is a platform designed for investment professionals, offering access to data and analytical tools that provide quick answers and help discover promising opportunities. It uncovers actionable insights and trends within the financial data of over three million companies. The platform is used worldwide by large corporations, startups, venture capital and private equity firms, investment banks, and many others. Key features of PitchBook include Advanced Search, Discovery & Insights, Company Profiles, Workflow & Efficiency, and many more.

Work Environment

The role offers a flexible work schedule, allowing you to adapt your working hours. You’ll collaborate closely with clients from the US, participating in sync meetings that extend no later than 19:00 (GMT+2). Additionally, you will take part in demo presentations for the Product Manager, showcasing progress and updates. The team follows a Scrum-based Agile methodology.

As a qualified expert, You will:

• Build business logic for the search part of the product.
• Write unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end tests for your code.
• Document your services, algorithms, and functionality.
• Participate in making technical decisions within the team and in code reviews.
• Implement reliable solutions and integrations.
• Communicate about requirements with team members and stakeholders.
• Collaborate in a distributed team.
• Take ownership of services and parts of the domain.

We’re looking for you if you have

• 5+ years of experience in Java software development.
• Strong knowledge of Java Core.
• Experience with Spring.
• Strong knowledge of SQL.
• Experience in developing RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of common patterns and algorithms.
• Understanding of OOP, popular design patterns, and microservices architecture.
• Understanding of event messaging.
• High level of responsibility and ownership.
• Strong aptitude for learning new technologies.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• English — Upper Intermediate (B2 and above), Ukrainian — fluent (both spoken and written).

Bonus Points

• Experience with any search engine.
• Experience in building a microservice architecture.
• Experience working with high-load distributed systems.
• Experience working on 3rd party integrations.
• Experience in test creation (JUnit, integration, performance, etc.).
