About the position
As part of strengthening our client’s legal team, we are looking for an experienced Lawyer specialised in banking and international regulatory environment, with a good command of issues related to American investments and FATCA/QI documentation.
You will work in a human-scale, cross-functional and demanding environment, in direct contact with banking, compliance, legal, tax teams and external partners (auditors, trustees, advisors, etc.).
Your responsibilities
Legal and documentary management of client files
- Ensure the analysis and validation of client documentation as part of onboarding and monitoring banking relationships; - Manage documentary aspects related to complex structures: trusts, companies, beneficial owners, types of tax residence, etc.; - Participate in the review and compliance of client files according to international regulatory requirements.
US Taxation / FATCA / QI
- Handle issues related to American investments generating US source income; - Ensure monitoring and understanding of American tax forms (W-8, W-9, IMY, etc.); - Participate in FATCA / Qualified Intermediary (QI) matters; - Advise internal teams on regulatory and tax constraints related to US clients or products involving American income.
Legal support and internal advice
- Provide legal support to banking and consulting teams; - Participate in the review and negotiation of contracts (consulting, providers, investment funds, etc.); - Work on varied files beyond classic compliance or LSFIN issues; - Collaborate with external partners: auditors, trustees, succession specialists, etc.
Team involvement
- Work closely with a team composed of lawyers and attorneys; - Quickly gain autonomy on your files; - Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and documentation.
Profile sought
Education & experience
- Advanced legal education (Master’s degree in law or equivalent); - 3 to 5 years’ experience in private banking, wealth management or banking consulting; - Bar qualification is not mandatory.
Technical skills
- Knowledge of issues related to international wealth structures (trusts, beneficiaries, succession, etc.); - Ease in documentary and regulatory analysis; - Good knowledge of FATCA / QI issues; a strong asset; - Mastery of US tax forms (W-8, W-9, IMY); a strong asset; - Very good professional level of English.
