We are looking for a dynamic Segment Manager who leads, develops and manages the team within the dedicated segment. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Sales and combines leadership, sales, strategy, profitability and product responsibility, with end‑to‑end responsibility for the segment’s commercial performance, portfolio steering and value creation across all plants, regions and sales channels.

What You Contribute

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead (functionally & disciplinarily), develop and motivate the segment team (Sales Managers & Sales Support).
    • Foster a high‑performance culture and ensure continuous development of employees.
    • Translate strategic targets into clear operational objectives.
  • Segment Strategy & Market Development
    • Develop and implement the segment strategy in alignment with Sales and Product & Portfolio.
    • Translate and execute the overall segment strategy into actionable market and customer plans.
    • Conduct market, customer and competitor analyses to identify growth opportunities.
    • Define target markets, customer segments and value propositions.
  • Commercial Responsibility & Sales Steering
    • Own the end‑to‑end Profit & Loss responsibility of the segment (revenues, margins, cost‑to‑serve).
    • Drive holistic segment steering including portfolio decisions, product mix and customer prioritization.
    • Apply and execute pricing frameworks and guidelines defined by Commercial Excellence, ensuring segment‑specific optimization.
    • Act as the central point of contact for all segment‑related commercial topics.
  • Customer & Business Development
    • Manage key accounts within the segment and build strong customer relationships.
    • Identify and acquire new customers and business opportunities.
    • Represent the company at industry events, associations and conferences.
    • Manage and lead negotiations for key customers.
  • Performance Management & Reporting
    • Monitor KPIs, forecasts and sales performance to ensure target achievement.
    • Identify risks and derive corrective actions.
    • Ensure customer satisfaction and long‑term customer loyalty.
  • Processes, Systems & Projects
    • Drive continuous improvement of sales processes and digital tools (e.g., CRM).
    • Contribute to or lead cross‑functional projects.
    • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders (Sales, Plants, NBD, TCS, Marketing, R&D).

Your Profile & Qualifications

  • University degree in business administration, finance, sales or economics or other relevant fields.
  • First (disciplinary) leadership experience and ability to lead, motivate and develop cross‑functional and international teams.
  • Strong experience in sales strategy, execution and business development, preferably within the metal processing industry and proven track record in driving growth and profitability.
  • Deep understanding of market dynamics, customer needs and commercial steering.
  • Strong analytical, strategic and entrepreneurial mindset combined with a high level of ownership and drive for results.
  • Excellent communication, networking and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent English skills (written & verbal); German skills beneficial.

The role can be staffed in any Sales Office location or in Grevenbroich / Hamburg.
