HSE Manager – BESS / Electrical Commissioning

Contract: Full-time, site-based
Hours: 40 hours per week
Job Description
We are currently supporting a major energy project in Germany and are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to support a BESS project through the energisation, hot commissioning and testing phases.
The HSE Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards of health and safety on site, with a particular focus on German HSE compliance, electrical safety, Permit to Work processes and HSE reporting/documentation.
This position would suit an HSE professional with previous experience working within electrical infrastructure, substations, HV/MV, renewable energy, power generation, BESS or electrical commissioning environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day HSE activities and compliance on site.
- Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with relevant German HSE requirements and project procedures.
- Support safe execution of energisation, hot commissioning and testing activities.
- Manage and review HSE documentation, risk assessments and method statements.
- Support Permit to Work (PTW), electrical isolation/consignation and LOTO procedures.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations.
- Coordinate with electrical, commissioning and project teams to ensure safe execution of works.
- Support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate HSE reporting and project documentation.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as an HSE Manager, HSE Lead, HSE Advisor, EHS Manager or similar.
- Experience within an electrical/energy environment is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of electrical safety, energisation and commissioning activities.
- Experience with PTW, LOTO and electrical isolation procedures.
- BESS experience is advantageous but not essential; relevant experience from substations, HV/MV, wind, solar, power generation or similar projects will be considered.
- Strong knowledge of HSE reporting and documentation.
- German and English language capability.
- Able to work full-time on site in Hohenberg-Krusemark.
