Select and administer assessments and observations to evaluate the intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning of referred students. Determine student eligibility for special education services according to federal and state regulations. Develop emotional/behavioral reports and behavior interventions. /p h3Qualifications /h3ulliMaster's degree, specialist degree or doctoral degree in related field /liliValid license as a school psychologist from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) /li /ul h3Special Knowledge / Skills /h3ulliKnowledge of administration and interpretation of appropriate evaluation instruments /liliKnowledge of public laws and district procedures regarding special education /liliMaintaining two-way communication between various stakeholders /liliDemonstrated organizational skills /li /ul h3Duties Responsibilities /h3ulliComplete associated documentation for and/or participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings to assist with appropriate placement and development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) for students according to district procedures. /liliMeet with parents to discuss pertinent background information and test results. /liliConduct individual and/or group counseling sessions as directed by the IEP. /liliConsult with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students, interpretation of assessment data, and implementation of behavior intervention plans in managing disruptive students. /liliConsult with psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and community agencies concerning intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning of students as needed. /liliConsult with staff on manifestation determination reviews (MDR) and threat assessments. /liliPresent staff development training to enable school personnel to identify and work more effectively with students with emotional, social, and behavioral difficulties. /liliDevelop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of psychological services and assessment procedures and make changes based on findings. /liliParticipate in the selection of assessment materials and equipment. /liliCompile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including case records, test results, statistical data, and test inventories. /liliComply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. /liliComply with all district and local campus routines and regulations. /liliMay provide clinical supervision to intern or practicum students. /liliMaintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors and campus staff. /liliEffectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents; maintaining a positive climate. /liliDisplay tolerance necessary for accepting supervision and feedback regarding job performance. /liliPerform all other duties as assigned. /li /ul h3Experience /h3pOne year experience providing psychology services in an educational setting /p h3Supervisory Responsibilities /h3pInterns, practicum students as assigned /p h3Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors /h3ullibTools/Equipment Used: /b Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals /lilibPosture: /b Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting /lilibMotion: /b Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension /lilibLifting: /b Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting nonambulatory students /lilibMental Demands: /b Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressure /li /ul pA school psychologist must have a minimum of three years of experience providing psychological services in the public school to supervise an intern or practicum student. /p pAn individual who has completed an internship, applied for a license, and been approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) will be issued a Trainee Status Letter and will maintain this status for a maximum of one calendar year until he or she passes the Jurisprudence Exam. A trainee must be under the supervision of a Licensed School Psychologist until licensure is confirmed by TSBEP in writing. /p h3Other Information /h3pThe District contributes $330 monthly to the cost of the employee-only health insurance, which is $105 more than the state-required amount of $225/month.
