The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) offers the position of a full-time Events Senior Manager (f/m/x) in an international and multicultural team at the IPC Headquarters (on-site) in Bonn, Germany, starting as soon as possible.

Since 1989, we have been creating change through sport with the Paralympic Games and Paralympic athletes at our core.

The IPC seeks to use the influential global position of the Paralympic Movement and the growing profile of Para athletes to challenge the stigma attached to disability and empower social transformation.

Role

The Events Senior Manager (f/m/x) is placed at Level A9 according to our internal compensation structure.

The role is accountable to the Head of Protocol and Events and will be a key member of the IPC events department, serving as the key event planning lead for certain institutional events hosted by the IPC like the IPC Athletes’ Forum, Annual IPC Classification meeting etc. from the bidding phase to the delivery of the event.

The role will also be responsible for leading the coordination and collaboration of operational planning for the Paralympic Games for the assigned functional areas.

The current profile includes Hospitality and Ticketing (HAT).

The individual will collaborate on behalf of the IPC with Organising Committees for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (OCOGs), the IOC, and other delivery partners.

  • Core responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the project for certain major IPC institutional events from the bidding process of finding a suitable host throughout the operational planning phase and event delivery in close coordination and collaboration with relevant departments across the IPC.
  • For the hosting of certain IPC institutional events, develop/ update the requirements document, respective questionnaires, and/or other tools for the evaluation phase in collaboration with other involved IPC departments.
  • Maintain oversight of set milestones and operational deliverables of the events while continuously monitoring and anticipating opportunities, risks and issues.
  • Contribute to and support projects and priorities managed by the Events department, propose solutions to problems and forecast future challenges, participate in decision-making, and elevate issues to the appropriate levels as necessary.
  • Support planning and delivery of assigned Functional Areas (FAs) for the Paralympic Games by acting as a key liaison between the IPC and relevant representatives of the OCOG and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
  • Collaborate with IPC Games Management Team to identify and resolve cross-functional issues during planning and delivery and elevate issues to the appropriate levels as necessary.
  • Establish objectives and prepare for, deliver, participate in, and follow-up on meetings with OCOGs and their delivery partners.
  • Support with special events during Games time and other tasks related to the IPC Delegation logistics for the Games.
  • Core requirements
  • At least 5-7 years of professional experience in the area of project management and/or events management.
  • Experience in the planning and delivery of an Olympic and Paralympic Games or major events.
  • A deep passion to work within the Paralympic Movement and shares the IPC’s vision, mission and values.
  • High attention to detail while maintaining a holistic and strategic view of the project and cross-departmental and financial impacts.
  • Demonstrated experience in respectfully collaborating with and contributing to a positive team environment in an international, multicultural environment.
  • Ability to adapt and maintain a positive, solution-oriented attitude to adjusting plans and processes in complex and evolving situations.
  • Proven ability to take initiative when problems arise, propose solutions, support decision-making processes, and successfully navigate change.
  • Ability to present complex information to varied audiences, both verbally and written, in an inclusive and understandable way
  • Confident, professional, and calm when under pressure and during the long working days in the lead-up and during the Paralympic Games and major IPC events.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of the English language.
  • Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Desired requirements

Experience in the area of Hospitality and Ticketing related to the Games or major events is considered an asset.
