Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Data Engineering to lead and grow our data engineering team. This role is pivotal in shaping our data strategy, architecture, and operations. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure that our data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with our strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the data engineering team, providing mentorship, guidance, and career development.
• Define and execute the data engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to drive data initiatives and promote a data-driven culture.
• Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Oversee the architecture of our data platforms, focusing on scalability, security, and performance.
• Evaluate and implement cutting-edge technologies to enhance data processing capabilities.
• Cloud & Technology Expertise:
• Lead the transition to or optimization of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Ensure seamless integration of cloud technologies with existing systems and processes.
• Advocate for best practices in cloud data management, security, and cost efficiency.
• Technical Leadership:
• Drive the adoption of Python and other relevant technologies within the team for data engineering tasks.
• Establish standards and best practices for coding, testing, and deployment of data solutions.
• Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver robust solutions.
• Partner with other departments to understand their data needs and deliver actionable insights.
• Ensure clear communication and documentation of data engineering processes and systems.
• Represent the data engineering function in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience in designing and managing large-scale data architectures.
• Extensive experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud data platforms.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficient in Python with a deep understanding of data processing libraries (e.g., Pandas, PySpark).
• Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes, data warehousing, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as data modeling techniques.
• Leadership & Soft Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
