To support our School of Arts, Information & Media, we are looking for an external lecturer on a fee basis f/m/d for our courses in the study program of Data Engineering at our Heidelberg Campus.

Services

• Deliver weekly teaching sessions (180 min/session) during the semester
• Supervise project work or student presentations (if included in the module)
• Evaluate student performance and submit grades in line with university deadlines
• Participate in brief coordination meetings with academic staff (as needed)

Requirements

• A Master's or Ph.D (or nearing completion) in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field
• Knowledge of Virtual Machines and Ubuntu/Linux, Hands‑on experience with Docker and containerized environments
• Strong understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases, Understanding of distributed systems and data processing (Hadoop and Apache Spark)
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of cloud computing, Familiarity with GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery
• Understanding of cloud-based data pipelines, storage, networking, and IAM, Experience deploying or managing data workloads in a cloud environment
• Teaching experience at university level, preferably in English
• Availability during the lecture period ([e.g., mid-October to mid-February]).
• Able to commute to Heidelberg, as the lectures will take place on campus
