University Medical Center Goettingen (UMG) is committed to systematically strengthening the transfer of scientific findings into medical applications and accelerating the advancement of research for the benefit of patients. The UMG Technology Transfer & Accelerator Office offers an interesting, challenging, and collaborative work environment dedicated to promoting the “transfer” of research findings into medical applications and improving the diagnosis, treatment, and/or prevention of diseases. The UMG Accelerator, as a core element, is a highly professional, multidisciplinary unit that brings together scientific projects with translational potential and therefore collaborates with internal management as well as a wide range of external international consultants and CROs.
This position is funded by the “UMG2032 – Excellence through Focus” project, supported by zukunft.niedersachsen, the joint science funding program of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture and the Volkswagen Foundation.
- Familiarize yourself with the research projects at UMG by engaging with researchers and students and systematically analyzing scientific papers and grant proposals for their potential for commercial exploitation
- Evaluate the commercial potential of research projects based on basic and clinical translational research, research findings, and the molecular and clinical validation of a target molecule in comparison to other clinical programs and indications
- Collaboration with contract research organizations (CROs) and external consultants as part of project partnerships
- You possess market knowledge in the life sciences fields relevant to UMG, ranging from medical devices to pharmaceutical products
- Management of databases for translational projects, as well as project and process management and the creation of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Maintaining working relationships with companies and investors, attending conferences, and reading professional literature
- Doctorate in natural sciences, biotechnology, or medicine (PhD)
- A MBA or other master’s degree is a plus but not required
- Expertise in the development of a life sciences product or marketing experience with life sciences products at a pharmaceutical company
- Excellent presentation skills and proficiency with standard MS Office programs
- Ability to work in a team, strong execution skills, and good communication skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and German
- Experience in drug development and knowledge of regulatory affairs
