Coburg is seeking a full-time Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible.

In this position of responsibility, you will play a key role in the strategic development and operation of our IT infrastructure.

You will take on a central role in the planning, implementation, and support of modern IT solutions, thereby contributing to the digital transformation and increased efficiency of our administration.

Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer / IT System Administrator (m/f/d) Your responsibilities will include, among other things, the following tasks Strategic IT Planning: Contributing to the development and implementation of a forward-looking IT strategy; actively participating in digitization and modernization projects.

Network & Infrastructure (Operations): Planning, operation, and optimization of LAN/WAN/VPN/Wi-Fi; administration of firewalls, routing, and switching; operation and maintenance of virtualized servers and storage (e. g., VMware, Omnissa Horizon).

System Administration & IT Security (Planning + Execution): Administration of email servers and Baramundi; management of Sophos, be BPo, and certificates; maintenance of IT emergency manuals; responsibility for backup and recovery strategies.

Management: Oversight of communications systems; negotiation and execution of contracts; management of external IT service providers (both conceptual and operational).

Technical Support & Consulting (active): Supporting IT management in architectural decisions; troubleshooting for all municipal facilities; expanding the use of AI while ensuring information security and data protection.

Several years of experience in network and infrastructure administration, ideally in the public sector.

In-depth knowledge of network technology, virtualization, server administration, IT security, and firewall configuration.

Experience with VMware v Sphere, Omnissa Horizon, Sophos Endpoint Protection, be BPo, Baramundi, and MS Office.

Vendor certifications (e. g., Sophos, Unify, or comparable network technologies) are a plus.

Independent, structured, and solution-oriented approach to work.

Sense of responsibility, ability to work in a team, and enjoyment of complex technical tasks.

Very good German language skills (at least C1) and a Class B driver’s license.

Knowledge of the municipal sector, AKDB software, as well as Proxmox VE, Veeam, or Unify Open Scape is desirable.
