Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Customs Compliance Senior Manager to lead and oversee customs compliance activities across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
In this role, you will have direct responsibility for customs compliance in selected European countries while managing a global team of customs compliance professionals.
You will drive compliance excellence, optimize duty savings opportunities, mitigate risk, and support efficient international trade operations across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead customs compliance activities for assigned European countries and provide oversight of global customs compliance programs across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
- Develop and implement customs compliance strategies, including tariff classification (HS codes), customs valuation, origin determination, FTA utilization, licensing requirements, and special customs programs.
- Monitor regulatory changes, manage customs audits and authority inquiries, and ensure compliance with applicable international and local customs regulations.
- Identify and mitigate customs compliance risks, prepare management reporting, and drive corrective and preventive actions where required.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a geographically diverse customs compliance team while fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Drive duty optimization and trade facilitation initiatives through preferential trade programs, process improvements, and close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Professional customs or trade compliance certification (e. g., CCS, AEO, or equivalent).
- 10+ years of customs compliance experience within a multinational industrial, manufacturing, or similarly complex global environment.
- Strong expertise in European customs regulations and practical knowledge of customs frameworks in North America and Asia, including trade agreements and preferential programs.
- Proven experience managing customs compliance activities in European markets and leading international customs or trade compliance teams.
- In-depth knowledge of import/export processes, customs valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, and global trade compliance requirements.
- Experience working with customs reporting systems and ERP platforms such as SAP.
- Strong leadership, analytical, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across cultures and connect compliance strategies to business objectives.
