About Us
STARK is a new kind of defence technology company revolutionizing the way autonomous systems are deployed across multiple domains. We design, develop and manufacture high performance unmanned systems that are software-defined, mass-scalable, and cost effective. This provides our operators with a decisive edge in highly contested environments.
We’re focused on delivering deployable, high-performance systems—not future promises. In a time of rising threats, STARK is bolstering the technological edge of NATO Allies and their Partners to deter aggression and defend Europe—today.
Your mission
As a Power Electronics Engineer at Stark, you will be at the core of designing and developing the electronic systems that power our next-generation unmanned aerial platforms. From electric and hybrid propulsion systems to rocket-boosted platforms, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable, rugged, and high-performance powertrain electronics for demanding military applications.
You will be part of the Propulsion & Powertrain Systems team and work closely with multidisciplinary engineering groups across the company. Your mission will be to ensure that our power electronics hardware is designed to meet strict performance, environmental, and certification requirements, in line with relevant NATO STANAGs, MIL standards, and IPC specifications.
This is a hands-on role requiring technical depth in power electronics, a solid understanding of unmanned aircraft system design, and a collaborative mindset. Familiarity with both military and commercial aviation certification environments—particularly as they apply to unmanned systems—is essential.
Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate power electronics systems (e.g. motor controllers, converters, battery management systems) for electric, hybrid, and rocket-propelled drones
  • Define technical requirements and ensure compliance with military and aerospace standards, including relevant NATO STANAGs, MIL-STD-461/704/810, and others
  • Ensure adherence to commercial aviation certification frameworks for unmanned systems, such as EASA SC-Light UAS and similar standards
  • Specify and review schematics, PCB layouts, and assemblies to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Collaborate on systems integration tasks related to propulsion and energy systems
  • Ensure hardware design complies with IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 workmanship standards
  • Conduct simulations, lab testing, and environmental validation of power electronics components
  • Contribute to system safety assessments, including FMEA and qualification testing
  • Support supplier selection, technical sourcing, and design-for-manufacture/test activities
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, avionics, and mechanical teams to ensure smooth platform integration

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics design, preferably in aerospace, defense, or automotive sectors
  • Strong background in drone power systems and electric propulsion architectures; experience with hybrid and rocket propulsion is a plus
  • Familiarity with NATO STANAGs, MIL standards (e.g. MIL-STD-461, 704, 810), and relevant EASA/FAA UAS certification pathways (e.g. SC-Light UAS)
  • Experience designing to and inspecting against IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
  • Proficient in simulation tools for power electronics (SPICE, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink)
  • Strong understanding of EMC/EMI design, thermal considerations, and ruggedized electronics
  • Excellent technical communication and documentation skills
  • Security clearance eligibility (or existing clearance) preferred
  • Fluent in English; German or other languages beneficial
