Overview We are currently seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team, supporting major electrical construction projects across Europe. This role will be based in Austria and will involve working closely with Contract Managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with client expectations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong commercial awareness, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive cost control and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.
The role will primarily be office-based in Austria, with occasional travel to project sites across Europe and the UK as required.
About the Company Our client is a leading specialist electrical contractor delivering medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) cable installation, termination services, busbar, and containment solutions across a wide range of large-scale construction projects. Operating across Europe and internationally, the business delivers mission‑critical projects within sectors including data centres, pharmaceuticals, renewables, power generation, and critical infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with estimating teams during tender stages to understand project scope and commercial strategy
Prepare and maintain comprehensive commercial project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
Produce accurate weekly cost reports and project performance forecasts
Manage and submit change orders as project scope develops
Prepare and submit monthly valuations, ensuring timely certification and payment follow‑up
Develop and monitor project cashflow forecasts and financial performance
Identify commercial risks early and implement mitigation strategies
Prepare and issue Early Warning Notices where required
Manage contract compliance, issue resolution, and communication with clients and project stakeholders
Maintain knowledge of contract conditions, commercial best practices, and relevant legislation
Support final account preparation and project close‑out documentation
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience within construction environments, ideally on electrical projects
Strong commercial awareness with proven experience in cost control, valuations, and change management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients and project teams
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
Highly organised, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Fluent English, written and spoken
EU citizenship or unrestricted visa‑free travel within the EU
Familiarity with contract law and construction procurement processes
