Job Description Summary
The Intern for the Community Engagement Program reports directly to the Campus Minister for Community Engagement. A seasoned student coordinator may apply for this position, or a student with extensive involvement in community service and engagement at Stonehill. The intern will work to bring to life the mission of the Community Engagement Program by serving as an active member of the local Brockton and Easton Communities. The intern will have extensive volunteer experience both at Stonehill College and previous experience from high school.
Job Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit and involve students, faculty and staff in service in the community
- Arrange orientation and training programs for volunteers prior to on-site service
- Help volunteers articulate connections between service experiences, related social justice issues and faith connections
- Participate in direct, ongoing service with community (preferable in assigned agency)
- Keep in regular contact with volunteers to answer questions, provide information, and ensure their experience is going well
- Assist with Volunteer Fairs, Celebration of Service breakfast, Giving Tree and other events
- Attend and organize all Community Engagement Program meetings, both team and college-wide
- Maintain and update database of student volunteers
- Assist Campus Minister for Community Service and Partnerships with supervision of service coordinators
- Facilitate one-time service opportunities and projects including recruitment, publicity, transportation, leadership, evaluation, and reflection
- Facilitate and implement justice focused programming across campus which encourages deeper reflection on social injustice
QUALITIES REQUIRED
- At least one year’s experience as a service coordinator
- Demonstrated commitment to service at Stonehill and during high school
- Personal interest in issues related to social justice

EXPECTATIONS OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM INTERN
- Upholds the same expectations of the coordinator team, as outlined in their position description
- Understands and positively challenges and promotes the Mission of the Community Engagement Program
- Has a high level of commitment to the Community Engagement Program and Campus Ministry including but not limited to being available during the established hours and fulfilling the above mentioned description.
- Dedication to communication with Supervisor (and other members of Campus Ministry Staff) concerning hours, workload, supervisor’s style, expectations, tasks, etc.
- Intern is committed to and accountable for follow-through on all tasks assigned.
- Supports & challenges team of coordinators in positive contribution to team dynamic
