This is an opportunity with a fast-growing defence and aerospace technology company developing advanced UAV and mission-critical defence systems.
As Kinetics Specialist for Production, you will play a key technical role in supporting the transition of complex kinetic and energetic systems from design into reliable, safe, and scalable production. Reporting to the Head of Kinetics, you will act as a technical anchor for production, ensuring safety, quality, compliance, and execution remain aligned across highly regulated manufacturing environments.
This role is suited to someone with hands-on experience in kinetic systems, energetic materials, defence manufacturing, and production support, who is comfortable working in environments where precision, safety, and technical ownership are critical.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support for the production of kinetic defence systems, including projectiles, warheads, rocket motors, and explosive components
Monitor, optimise, and troubleshoot manufacturing processes to ensure quality, efficiency, and performance
Work closely with engineering and production teams to implement design updates, process improvements, and corrective actions
Support root cause and failure analysis for defects, non-conformances, and test results
Take technical ownership of kinetic systems including munitions, energetics, rocket motors, fuses, and guided systems
Support system integration activities and validation testing of prototypes and production units
Oversee safe handling, storage, transport, and disposal processes for energetic materials
Develop SOPs, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and compliance documentation
Support the setup of production and handling sites for energetic materials
Manage ammunition tracking, serialisation, and lifecycle documentation
Support safety audits, inspections, regulatory compliance, and incident investigations
Analyse process control data and support continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain production records, test documentation, and configuration control
Coordinate with procurement, supply chain, logistics, engineering, and production teams
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation
Mentor junior engineers and technicians where required
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
5+ years of experience in munitions, defence manufacturing, energetic materials, or a closely related field
Hands-on experience with kinetic weapons systems and explosive production within regulated defence environments
Strong technical knowledge of propellants, explosives, energetic manufacturing processes, and materials science
Experience with quality systems, statistical process control, CAD tools, and technical documentation
Strong understanding of explosive safety standards, military regulations, and defence trade compliance
Knowledge of NATO AASTP-1, MIL-SPEC, ITAR, EAR, or similar regulations would be highly beneficial
Exposure to advanced defence production technologies and kinetic systems
Strong problem-solving skills, technical leadership, and a safety-first mindset
High attention to detail and clear communication skills
Comfortable working cross-functionally across engineering, production, quality, supply chain, and leadership teams
Willingness to travel when required
Who You Are You are a hands-on technical expert who is comfortable working in highly regulated defence environments. You understand the importance of precision, safety, compliance, and production discipline when working with complex kinetic and energetic systems.
You bring structure to technical challenges, remain calm under pressure, and are confident working across engineering, production, quality, and operational teams. You do not just follow processes — you understand them, improve them, and take ownership of making them safer, stronger, and more reliable.
