An innovative European deep-tech company operating in the space sector is seeking a General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of its German entity.

This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly growing international business developing cutting-edge technology for commercial, government and scientific customers.

As the organisation continues its European expansion, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing and scaling its presence in Germany.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you'll have significant autonomy and responsibility for ensuring the German business operates efficiently, compliantly and in alignment with the wider organisation.

The Role

As the senior operational leader for the German entity, you will oversee all aspects of local business operations while acting as the key interface between the German office and international headquarters.

You'll be responsible for ensuring the business runs smoothly, supporting local teams, managing external stakeholders and driving operational excellence as the organisation continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the German legal entity.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership to support the company's growth strategy.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for local authorities, regulatory bodies and external partners.
  • Ensure compliance with German legal, administrative and employment requirements.
  • Coordinate with international headquarters to align local operations with global processes and standards.
  • Oversee office facilities, suppliers, service providers and general administration.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and implement scalable processes.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and employee operations alongside the HR function.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative working environment across the local organisation.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in a General Manager, Country Manager, Operations Manager or similar leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of German corporate, regulatory and administrative requirements.
  • Experience managing the day-to-day operations of a German legal entity.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Fluent German and English.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience supporting the establishment or growth of an international subsidiary in Germany.
  • Background within aerospace, engineering, advanced manufacturing, deep-tech or another high-technology industry.
  • Knowledge of German labour law and employee relations.
  • Experience working with works councils, unions or employee representative bodies.
  • Experience in high-growth, international or venture-backed businesses.
