Job Purpose
The Global Supply Planning Specialist focuses on global Distribution & Requirement Planning, Inventory Management, and Order Chain Processing for the contract manufacturer portfolio of Straumann Group’s oral care products and services. As part of the Global Supply Planning team, the Global Supply Planning Specialist CMO is responsible and accountable for ensuring seamless supply chain operations between internal supply planning and external contract manufacturing partners. This role involves demand planning, capacity management, inventory optimization, and coordination with key stakeholders to ensure product availability while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
The Global Supply Planning Specialist CMO performs a broad range of operational & tactical tasks, that may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Set up, maintain, monitor, and analyze master & transactional data, related to the centralized operational planning of finished goods short and mid-term, ensuring reliable and efficient material and document flows, identifying and preventing constraints to ensure supply continuity and deliver the expected service while meeting inventory targets in Straumann Group’s global distribution network.
  2. Assess and release purchase orders (MRP job-based or manual) to suppliers worldwide, tracking and monitoring resulting global make-to-stock/make-to-order replenishments in the global distribution network.
  3. Develop and manage short-term and long-term supply plans in alignment with demand forecasts, ensuring contract manufacturers meet required service levels.
  4. Act as the single point of contact, and communicate effectively, to internal & external stakeholders, local and global, for the contract manufacturer portfolio, regarding short-term product availability and management of events that impact regular supply.
  5. Coordinate with Demand Planning, Procurement, and Operations teams to balance demand and supply constraints.
  6. Establish close collaboration and continuous exchange, both within, as well as beyond the E2E Supply Chain organization, with Regional and Global Demand Planning, Regional/Country Supply Chain & Customer Service, International Distribution, Warehousing, internal & external Manufacturing, Purchasing, Regulatory, Product Management, Dental Services Organizations, and regional/country Sales and Marketing.
  7. Conduct regular business reviews with CMOs to assess performance, capacity, and operational improvements.
  8. Support, contribute and drive continuous improvement projects within the E&E Supply Chain Department to optimize planning parameters, processes and process stability, order chain flows, reports, and communication channels.
  9. Adhere to and improve planning processes, establish and document new planning processes and maintain process documentation for planning relevant tasks, activities, and procedures.
  10. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and forecast accuracy.
  11. Provide analytical insights and reports on supply chain performance, highlighting risks and opportunities for improvement.
  12. Travel occasionally (up to 10%) to meet and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, as per business needs.

Requirements

Education and Expertise
To set up for success in this role, the following education and expertise are recommended:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  2. 3-7 years of experience in supply planning, demand planning, or supply chain management – ideally in a highly regulated industry such as Pharma, Medical Devices, Life Sciences, or Chemical.
  3. Experience working with CMOs and external suppliers is a prerequisite.
  4. Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain principles, including demand planning, inventory management, and production scheduling.
  5. Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements, particularly in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or FMCG industries.
  6. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive data-driven decision-making.
  7. Fluent in English, fluent in German. Any other language is an asset.
  8. Hands-on with Supply Chain related software and tools, proficient with SAP and MS Office applications.
  9. Working experience with SAP SD & MM modules, BI Reporting, Demand Driven MRP.
  10. APICS (CPIM) certification.
