Role Summary
Is the next step in your career at SMBC Group EMEA? We're looking for a IT Technical Delivery Manager- AVP for our ITSD EU department to join our team.
The Technical Delivery Manager is responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of IT projects supporting business change initiatives across SMBC EU AG. The role sits within the IT function and focuses on planning, tracking and delivering technology initiatives, working closely with business stakeholders, IT teams and external vendors.
The role requires a strong understanding of IT delivery combined with solid business awareness, enabling the translation of business requirements into structured delivery plans. The successful candidate will drive day-to-day project execution, manage dependencies, track progress, and ensure transparent reporting across the project portfolio.
A core part of the role is governance, reporting and control - providing accurate, timely updates on delivery status, risks, issues and milestones, and supporting informed decision making across IT and the business.
The anticipated annual salary range for this role is 64,000 - 96,000 €, with the final offer determined based on the candidate's skills, experience, role scope, location, and relevant market factors. In addition to base salary, the role may be eligible for a discretionary incentive award and a competitive benefits package, including core benefits such as pension provision.
Business Area
This role supports a growing portfolio of IT initiatives ranging from regulatory and infrastructure change to application and process improvements. It operates in a matrix environment, coordinating across multiple IT teams, business functions and third-party suppliers.
The position is well suited to someone with hands‑on experience delivering IT projects, who understands technology concepts but is equally comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders. It requires a structured, organised approach to delivery and a strong focus on transparency, tracking and execution.
Position Description
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Support, review and deliver local IT projects according to expected standards.
- Provide cover to Bank's IT support, answering calls, creating tickets, informing or arranging direct contact with other teams/team members if required to solve or elevate issues.
- Act as the contact person for front office departments, SMBC Düsseldorf Branch and SMBC EU AG to support customer requests regarding MultiCash (local e-Banking system), including vendor/developer coordination.
- Ensure potential IT-related cost aspects, expenses and budget requirements are addressed, administered and reviewed.
- Coordinate and support IT-related activities in conjunction with building services, vendors and suppliers.
- Ensure incidents and service requests reported via the Bank's ticketing system are escalated to the appropriate resolver group as required, monitored, managed and progressed.
- Monitor activities on local installations and services and ensure availability.Perform daily visual checks of MER (fire suppression system, temperature, UPS, etc.) and verify compliance with SMBC EMEA IT room policies.
- Support system enhancements, development, release updates, business continuity and disaster recovery activities, including planning, documentation, testing, implementation and verification.
- Ensure adherence to the Bank's standards, strategies, policies and procedures.
- Maintain close communication with team members and line managers, including colleagues located in different branches or office locations.
- Participate in IT team meetings locally, by phone or via video conference where required.
- Be prepared to provide support during early/late hours, local holidays and weekends if necessary.
- Administer and regularly review contracts with external parties, including vendors, contractors and service providers.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Good communication skills, knowing how to escalation effectively and in time, ensuring different departments and functional groups share knowledge to act regarding regulations and to support customer (internal/external) needs.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Windows Desktop, Active Directory, SCOM and SCCM.
- Practical knowledge of desktop/productivity applications such as MS Office.Good knowledge of Microsoft underlying technologies including DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, File/Print Servers, etc.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM).
- Ability to see problem tickets through to resolution and coordinate with various teams in the fault-finding process.
- Knowledge of ITIL service delivery best practices.
- Experience working to tight SLAs and with call logging systems (ServiceNow, etc.).
- Ability to apply and continuously enhance own technical knowledge, ensuring it remains up to date with industry advancements and is shared with other team members.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, ensuring the highest possible level of service is provided to end users with limited disruption to IT systems.
