Job Description
The Global Head Commodity and Energy Transition Finance reports to the Global Head Commodity, Trade and Sovereign Credit within the Credit & Surety unit of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, the commercial insurance arm of the Swiss Re Group.
In this role, you will lead and manage the CETF business, responsible for setting the portfolio strategy, taking portfolio steering actions to maximize underwriting performance, leading distribution with key bank clients and brokers, managing talents, and being responsible end-to-end for the successful execution of the business in line with strategic ambitions and plans.
You will work in close cross-functional collaboration with colleagues in other Corporate Solutions and Group functions.
Your key responsibilities are as follows:
- Shape and execute strategies related to originating, underwriting, and steering, with a focus on underwriting profitability.
- Maintain and develop strong client and broker relationships to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Proactively steer the portfolio using a data-driven approach and stay informed about key trends impacting the business.
- Develop origination action plans and financial targets, empowering your team to lead business priorities.
- Build a high-performance team that embodies Swiss Re's culture.
About the Team
Our CETF team comprises 10 employees located in London, Munich, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Singapore. The business generates approximately USD 90m in premiums, making us a leading player in this specialized segment.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Over 10 years of experience managing a portfolio in structured trade credit and political risk insurance, with deep knowledge of complex loan structures such as Pre-export finance, Reserve Based Lending, Mining Project Finance, and Energy transition sectors.
- A successful track record of profitable growth over business cycles.
- An extensive network with financial institutions and brokers in relevant markets.
- High cultural sensitivity and ability to work internationally.
- Willingness to undertake extensive business travel, sometimes at short notice.
For Germany, the base salary range is between 135,000 and 225,000 EUR, depending on the role's requirements, scope, complexity, and the candidate's profile, including education, expertise, skills, and experience.
