VP Tax | Banking | Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main

My client is a leading banking institution who is growing it's European operations and looking to hire a Vice President, Tax in Frankfurt, Germany.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding bank where the tax function plays a strategic role in supporting business growth, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency across EMEA.

As VP of Tax, you will be a key member of the EU Tax team, supporting the bank’s expanding product offering and ensuring compliance with German tax law, with a particular focus on German VAT.

You will work closely with Finance, front-office teams, and regional tax colleagues while acting as a trusted advisor on tax matters across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor developments in German tax legislation and assess their impact on the organisation's operations.
• Support and enhance the New Product Process, ensuring tax compliance from product launch to business-as-usual.
• Prepare and review German VAT returns for the VAT group.
• Review input VAT methodology and invoicing processes to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Support the implementation of e-invoicing in Germany.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes through technology and automation.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external advisors, tax authorities, and group HQ.
• Identify and manage tax risks while providing clear guidance to senior stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 6+ years’ experience in German tax, particularly VAT.
• Financial services or international tax exposure is advantageous.
• Strong communication skills in German and English.
• Experience managing projects and explaining complex tax issues to non-tax stakeholders.
• A proactive mindset with an interest in technology and process improvement.
