Role Overview The Director (Water) provides strategic leadership in the sustainable management of Tasmania’s freshwater resources and shapes policy, programmes and regulatory frameworks that support long‑term environmental, economic and community outcomes. This senior executive role has broad responsibility for strategy, policy, programme delivery and organisational performance across multiple water‑related functions.
Key Focus Areas
Strategic leadership of water policy, planning, compliance, monitoring and assessment functions
Delivery of high‑level advice to senior executives and Government on complex water resource issues
Leading major programmes and initiatives to improve organisational performance and support sustainable water outcomes
Oversight of regulatory frameworks, licensing, compliance and risk management
Building strong partnerships across government, industry, stakeholders and the community
Required Qualifications Accomplished and respected senior leader with demonstrated experience operating in complex environments and delivering strategic outcomes. Holds a strong record of leading large teams, managing regulatory and compliance frameworks, and building effective stakeholder relationships.
