Interested in brown and beige fat thermogenesis? We are recruiting a doctoral researcher at the Chair for Molecular Nutritional Medicine. The position is available immediately for a duration of 3 years. The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary in accordance with the TV-L E13 scale at 65% employment. This compensation enables young scientists to focus fully on pioneering research within a supportive academic environment. Our team and research goals The lab integrates physiology, cell biology, and molecular biology to explore nutritional and metabolic physiology. We study how physiological and genetic mechanisms enable adaptation to different diets and food components. The new project aims to quantify the aerobic and anaerobic heat production in brown and beige fat and identify the underlying molecular mechanisms. Your profile We value candidates who demonstrate curiosity, resilience, and a strong interest in metabolic research. Ideal applicants will bring hands-on laboratory experience and a collaborative spirit to a vibrant multi-disciplinary setting. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required, and previous experience with metabolic phenotyping, molecular biology, or animal experimentation will be considered beneficial. Your opportunities You will associate with the DFG funded Collaborative Research Centre BATenergy (https://www.trr333.uni-bonn.de/), and team up with biologists, nutrition scientists, and physicians applying cutting-edge technologies to quantify adaptive thermogenesis and identify the underlying mechanisms of heat dissipation in brown and beige fat. Your application should include a cover letter, CV, transcripts of records, and contacts of two referees. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We encourage interested candidates from diverse backgrounds to apply and contribute their perspectives to our research endeavors. Join us in advancing the understanding of thermogenic fat and making meaningful scientific discoveries in a supportive and innovative environment.
