Professorship for learning analytics is hiring a data scientist (m / w / d).

Professorship for learning analytics at the School of Social Science and Technology, Technical University of Munich, is looking for a part-time scientific assistant (up to 0.5 workload) available from September.

Your responsibilities:

A person in this position will participate in the group’s research activities. The research group focuses on social learning and relationship formation in technology-augmented environments, applies complex systems approaches in the analysis of learning, and examines the use of educational technology for lifelong learning. Your activities will focus on data analysis, but participation in other aspects of the research cycle in the group may be negotiated. The job is well-suited for a data science professional who wants to work on interesting projects part-time while balancing other commitments. The job may suit an ambitious professional who has the qualifications required but lacks experience and is open to building real-world skills through this job.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, computer science, or similar. If your degree is not in any of these subjects, you must demonstrate strong experience in data science and quantitative methods. Candidates in neuroscience, cognitive science, and similar, with a strong quantitative background will also be considered.
• Good programming skills in Python and/or R.
• Good knowledge of data science.
• Openness to working with interdisciplinary projects and interest in applications for learning and teaching.
• Fluency in English.
