Institute of Mechanics and Thermodynamics at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has an opening for the
W3 Professorship „Thermo- and Fluiddynamics“ (m/f/d)
to be filled at the earliest opportunity.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to representing the field of appointment in both research and teaching. The desired research and teaching profile should closely align with the following areas:
- Resource and energy efficiency of thermo- and fluid-dynamic processes, systems, and products,
- Utilization of waste heat/environmental cooling, combined heat and power (CHP) and combined heat, power, and cooling (CHCP) systems,
- Application of thermo-fluid-dynamic processes in areas such as electrochemical energy conversion, energy storage, or fluidics,
- Use of novel materials and technologies for innovative applied heat transfer,
- Leveraging the thermal environment for the development of product properties in the production process,
- Thermophysical property evaluation
We are looking for someone with
- practice and experience in research (ability and willingness to raise third-party funding, strong publication and lecture track record, advancement of young academics),
- practice and experience in teaching (in particular the ability and willingness to teach courses in German and English),
- practice and experience in knowledge exchange,
- Taking responsibility of the KETEC reserach project and its branch in Reichenbach/Vogtland and
- a willingness to assume responsibilities in academic self-administration.
We would also welcome
- international practice and experience in teaching, research and/or knowledge exchange,
- special proof of qualification in teaching,
- the ability and willingness to embrace new forms of teaching and learning,
- the ability and willingness to participate in delivering continuing education, and
- the ability and willingness to engage in public relations work.
The requirements for appointment are governed by Section 59 of the Institutions of Higher Education Act in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSG). The additional academic achievements required for the position must be demonstrated by evidence of a successfully appraised junior professorship, completion of post-doctoral studies (habilitation) or equivalent academic activity.
