Energy Informatics lab at Technische Universität Clausthal solicits expressions of interest for a researcher (PhD student or postdoc) position. The position is on-site in Clausthal‑Zellerfeld, full‑time, remunerated up to TV‑L E13, and offered for an initial duration of 2.5 years with the possibility of a later contract extension.
The position is part of the project \"Innovative integrated energy concepts for rural areas (INITIAL)\", in which seven departments at four universities work towards the goal of creating and integrating simulation models for generation and demand in energy parks (featuring generators, consumers, and storages for electricity, hydrogen, and/or heat). The overall goal is to find the most grid‑friendly operation mode for a given set of integrated components, while fostering acceptance by the general public at the same time. The contribution to be delivered by the successful candidate is the digital integration of models and the data‑driven optimization of their modes of operation.
Specific tasks
- Integrate existing simulation models of energy park components (such as hydrogen electrolyzers, PV and wind generators, and storage devices)
- Derive methodologies to emit control commands to reflect component dynamics (e.g., setpoint change latencies, or avoiding invalid operating regimes)
- Assess the relevance and importance of parameter forecasts on the overall system efficiency
- Communicate the scientific results achieved in conference and journal publications as well as presenting findings at project meetings
Required prerequisites
- A very good university degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in information technology, computer science, electrical engineering or a subject with a focus on technical computer science
- Very good communication skills, both written and spoken in English and ideally also in German
- Ability to work independently and to work in a team
- Enjoyment of interdisciplinary application problems and interdisciplinary exchange with scientists
