Overview
Professorship (Open Rank: W2 or W1 with Tenure Track on W2) in Evangelical Theology with a focus on Church and Theology History.
Responsibilities
- Lead research in Church and Theology History, ideally with a secondary focus on Gender Studies, and develop this area nationally and internationally.
- Participate in domestic and international research alliances and cooperative projects.
- Seek third‑party funding, support the scientific Nachwuchs, and contribute appropriately to teaching at the faculty.
- At the W1 level, initial appointment is for 3 years with potential extension to 6 years; successful probation may lead to a permanent W2 professorship under the Tenure Track as per §38 HG NRW.
- Teaching commitment: first three years 4 semester weeks per course; positive intermediate evaluation allows 5 semester weeks in the last three years.
Qualifications
- Ph. D. with above‑average success and early publications in internationally peer‑reviewed journals.
- International research contacts and collaborations, especially for the W2 position.
- For W2: Habilitation or equivalent, continuous publication record in internationally peer‑reviewed outlets, and international visibility of scholarly work.
- Self‑secured research projects or external competitive funding for W2 is expected.
- Capacity for outstanding teaching in English and, in the medium term, in German.
- Leadership and managerial skills, willingness to participate in academic self‑government.
- Qualifications per §36 and §37 HG NRW apply.
