We are looking for a team-oriented person to join our team as Head of the Focus Area Biomanufacturing and Process Engineering (m/f/d). The Munich Institute of Integrated Materials, Energy and Process Engineering (MEP), based in Garching, is an integrative research center that combines the areas of 4D Materials and Additive Technologies (M), Sustainable Energy Systems (E) and Biomanufacturing and Process Engineering (P).
Responsibilities
- Networking of TUM research groups in the areas of biomanufacturing and process engineering in interdisciplinary, cross‑campus projects; building an international network with complementary groups from other universities and industry
- Supervision of interdisciplinary research projects
- Coordination of activities and sub‑projects in our research network with a large industrial partner
- Initiation/creation of project proposals for interdisciplinary projects and funding opportunities
- Organization of the Biomanufacturing Lab together with our laboratory manager at the MEP (coordination, budget planning)
- Publication of scientific results
Qualifications
- You have completed a university degree in the field of (bio)process engineering, bioengineering, biotechnology, biomanufacturing or in related fields
- Promotion is desirable
- You have experience in processing and applying for research and third‑party funding projects
- Communication is your strength – in oral and written communication, also in English
- You are team‑oriented and strong in organization
- Connected and interdisciplinary thinking and acting
- Proficiency with common office software

The employment is full‑time and according to TV‑L, depending on qualifications and personal suitability up to pay group E13. The position is limited until June 30, 2027.
