Mission Objectives - DHA's European medical facilities provide critical healthcare to forward-deployed forces, families, and retirees, often in joint and NATO environments that depend on resilient, secure networks to sustain clinical operations and theater readiness. NES supports the Network Modernization Branch in delivering comprehensive LAN/WLAN sustainment and deployment services across CONUS and OCONUS MTFs to ensure operational readiness of the MHS mission.
The Senior Network Engineer - Europe ensures that LAN/WLAN infrastructure across European MTFs and GSUs is engineered, secured, and sustained to support uninterrupted care in deployed and host-nation environments, making this role central to DHA's global mission success

- Diagnose and resolve complex network and routing issues across all OSI layers using tools such as SolarWinds, Armis, and Ansible; interpret MIBs and MRTG-type statistics to design and implement performance optimization and capacity planning measures.
- Design, implement, and maintain LAN/WLAN/WAN security barrier systems (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS) that prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems and comply with DoD, DHA, and European Regional Command security objectives and policies.
- Establish and enforce LAN/WLAN/WAN procedures and standards to ensure compliance with DoD directives, DHA policies, EUCOM theater guidance, and host-nation constraints where applicable.
- Lead planning and execution of network modernization efforts, Med-COI migrations, and infrastructure refreshes across European sites, including SIP development, Limited Upgrade Plans, cutover coordination, and 'as-built' documentation, while minimizing clinical disruption.
