As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will develop the safety-critical software of our onboard product family, from low-level drivers and the real-time platform to redundancy management and the interfaces to sensors, inceptors and actuators. You will work in a small, cross-functional team of system, hardware, FPGA and test engineers and take responsibility for your software from requirements through verification and integration on the TechSAT test environment.
Your Tasks
- Design, implement and test embedded software for in C (and C++ where appropriate) on a real-time operating system or bare-metal platform.
- Develop the platform software: board support package, boot and startup software, built-in test, health monitoring and safe-state handling.
- Develop drivers and I/O handling for avionics interfaces: ARINC 429, CAN FD, RS-485, discrete I/O, RVDT/LVDT position sensing and Ethernet.
- Develop the software according to DO-178C: software requirements and design, traceability, coding standards (e.g. MISRA C), reviews and structural coverage analysis.
- Verify the software through unit, integration and hardware-in-the-loop tests on the ADS2-based test systems, including fault injection.
- Support the system safety assessment (FHA, FMEA, FTA) and the hardware/software interface definition with the hardware and FPGA team.
- Keep all source code, toolchains and build environments under configuration management and fully reproducible.
Your Profile
Required
- Degree in computer science, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer engineering or a comparable field.
- Solid knowledge of microcontrollers or multicore processors, interrupt handling and low-level drivers.
- Hands-on experience with serial and fieldbus interfaces such as CAN, RS-485, SPI or ARINC 429.
- A structured, well-documented way of working and enjoyment of working in a small team.
- Fluent in technical English communication
Nice to have
- Experience with safety-critical software development, ideally to DO-178C (DAL A to C)
- Experience with requirements-based development and testing, traceability and static analysis or coding standards such as MISRA C.
