Artificial Intelligence Software Maintenance Engineer (M/F/D), REF. NO. 24_79239
For our customer in the ESA/ESOC located in Darmstadt, Germany , we are looking for an experienced Artificial Intelligence Software Maintenance Engineer to help support end-to-end service covering the AI solutions IT resources, software framework, and AI solutions developed in the last 2 years as part of the ESOC A2I Roadmap.
The work will be focused on the Operations, Maintenance, and Sustaining of the platform and solutions for ESOC needs, as well as interactions with the software Community around the software.
The engineer will join a multidisciplinary team helping to shape our AI strategy and showcasing the potential for AI through early-stage solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to take advantage of emerging trends and technologies and make a real-world difference.
Background:
Developed by ESOC’s engineering teams, the Operations CompAnIon (OCAI) is an exciting breakthrough in space mission operations, harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence to revolutionise decision-making processes and provide operators with a seamless, all-in-one solution.
In times of an ever-increasing complexity of systems to operate and fragmentation of the data produced, the tool empowers space operators by seamlessly linking and navigating through intricate space operations knowledge, becoming a âone-stop-shopâ solution for ESOCÂŽs operators.
Structure:
The COSMIC activity is divided into two functions, namely user support and software maintenance & operation.
The purpose is the provision of User Support and Software Maintenance & Operation Services to the Customers of the IDS systems that are under the responsibility of the Ground Segment System and Applications Division (OPS-GA) and the Ground Station Systems Division (OPS-GS) of the Directorate of Spacecraft Operations (D/OPS).
You will provide OPS-GA and OPS-GS with Software Maintenance and User Support services to provide both user support for the users of Infrastructure Data Systems (IDS), supported customer of the MOI and system maintenance for IDS supported in COSMIC.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Understand the challenges around the AI solutions and software framework to provide software maintenance and user support and how integrating AI capabilities can help lead to solutions.
- Analyze and explain AI and machine learning (ML) solutions while setting and maintaining high ethical standards, to meet the needs of our AI strategy.
- Providing software engineering and system management support.
- Software development, maintenance, and preparation of test environments.
- Providing support for user requests and inquiries.
- Modifying, fixing bugs, and improving the IDS software.
- Interacting with the Software Community to support selected inquiries, distributing knowledge and sharing experience.
- Synchronizing developments of system versions across the community versions.
Required Skills and qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in applying AI to practical and comprehensive technology solutions.
- Experience with ML, deep learning, TensorFlow, Python, NLP.
- Experience in program leadership, governance, and change enablement.
- Knowledge of basic algorithms, object-oriented and functional design principles, and best-practice patterns.
- Experience in REST API development, NoSQL database design, and RDBMS design and optimizations.
- Demonstrated experience, competencies, and skills corresponding in the provision of a user support service or service desk.
- Experience, competencies, skills, or user experience in one or more of the Agencyâs IDS.
- Having demonstrable experience of the system code base, by either having actively participated in the development or maintenance of the system in a significant manner.
- Demonstrated DB administrator experience of one or more of the following databases: MySQL/MariaDB, Informix, Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, Hadoop, HFS, S3.
Desirable Skills and qualifications:
- Bachelorâs or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
- Experience with innovation accelerators.
- Experience with cloud environments.
- Demonstrated system expert experience in one or more of the products identified in the EGOS System Baselines.
- Demonstrated expert user experience in one or more of the systems included in the SDE (JIRA, Jenkins, etc.).
