How would it sound if there was a job opportunity to help secure the Control Center Operations that manage the constellation of Galileo satellites on behalf of the European Commission?
For our customer in the space industry located in the Munich area, we are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer with broad technical knowledge of IT infrastructure with a focus on security.
The Security Engineering Team is responsible for managing vulnerabilities across system segments (GCS, GMS, etc.) and remote sites.
This involves scanning for vulnerabilities, acting promptly to patch affected components, or otherwise mitigating threats.
These tasks require a strong technical background and an understanding of the evolving capabilities of attackers, especially with advancements in Artificial Intelligence.
The position will include tasks such as:
- Reviewing and analyzing security procedures and applications used in daily operations (access protection, encryption, configuration control, vulnerability analysis, malware detection, database activities), based on project requirements in cybersecurity
- Identifying and classifying system anomalies, creating solution concepts
- Identifying potential threats, creating response plans, reviewing implementations, and developing operational solutions, escalating violations as needed
- Managing the security risk register by identifying new cybersecurity risks
- Supporting training document preparation and conducting regular IT security training for project staff
- Reporting and escalating risks to the Cyber Security Manager or System Evolution and Security Manager, especially for critical vulnerabilities in Galileo IT security
- Reviewing system compliance with security requirements, documenting deviations, and implementing corrective actions
- Defining cybersecurity processes and workflows in engineering
- Implementing new projects and technical solutions, and developing analysis and reporting tools
Technical Skills Required
- Degree in computer science/information technology focusing on cybersecurity or equivalent experience
- Experience in Vulnerability Management and assessment
- Scripting or programming skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Understanding of networking protocols, encryption, and cyber security concepts like red/blue teaming
- Experience with AD, Linux, Windows system administration, configuration, and hardening
- Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipeline security, and penetration testing is advantageous

- Proactive learning attitude
- Fluent English skills; German is a plus
