Job Description

We are recruiting experienced software engineers to join our team providing ground segment software engineering services to Eumetsat in Darmstadt. The focus will be on engineering activities supporting procurement, integration, and verification (I&V) of Earth observation Data Processing Systems. We seek staff with diverse skills and experience levels to cover tasks from software architecture to integration and verification, for both new developments and updates to existing systems.

Responsibilities

• Requirements definition and early design activities, supporting EUMETSAT teams
• Detail design and build-up phases, including direct implementation or support
• I&V activities, including planning, coordination, and execution of tests and verification, contributing to validation activities
• Support operations and maintenance of ground segments
• Contribute to management and programmatic activities

Detailed responsibilities are available upon request. This full-time position is based in Darmstadt, Germany, with an ASAP start date.

Qualifications & Competencies

A university degree in a relevant discipline is required. Candidates should possess skills in:

• Engineering of UNIX/Linux-based real-time data processing systems
• Source code control (e.g., Git, Subversion)
• System integration and verification
• Requirements and verification management
• Formal testing and documentation
• Benchmarking and stress testing
• Structured software development and maintenance
• ECSS standards and operational environment experience

Additional domain-specific skills include Earth observation data processing, satellite monitoring, mission control, satellite communication protocols, and ground station control. Proficiency in programming languages like C/C++, Java, and scripting, as well as operating systems and databases, is desired.
