Help verify the data that turns satellite observations into climate information. For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are looking for a Data Processing & IV&V Engineer to support the development, integration, verification and validation of the Copernicus CO2 Monitoring (CO2M) mission, with a particular focus on its Mission Data Processing environment. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of Earth Observation, satellite data processing, Ground Segment engineering and systems verification. You will contribute to the systems that transform raw satellite observations into validated operational products, working across requirements, software, processing chains, test environments and Ground Segment interfaces. The CO2M missionThe CO2M Ground Segment includes a Mission Data Processing Sub-segment responsible for the ingestion, processing, archiving and dissemination of payload data and the generation of L0, L1 and L2 products. You will work with components and functions including the CFDP Front-End Processor, Payload Data Processing, processing infrastructure and L0/L1/L2 Instrument Processing Facilities. The processing chain includes the reconstruction of payload data using CCSDS CFDP, followed by processing through the CO2M Payload Data Processing environment and generation of mission products.Your roleAs a Data Processing & IV&V Engineer, you will:Plan and execute Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V) activities for satellite data-processing systems and processors.Support the verification of end-to-end processing chains, from mission data acquisition through L0/L1/L2 product generation.Define and review test specifications, test procedures, test data and test reports.Establish and maintain traceability between requirements, tests, results and verification evidence.Support the preparation and execution of integration and verification test campaigns.Participate in formal verification activities, including Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs), Test Review Boards (TRBs) and Verification Control Boards (VCBs).Prepare and maintain Verification Control Documents (VCDs) and contribute to the consolidation of verification status.Support the deployment, configuration and verification of new software releases, patches and, where required, hardware.Work with automated test environments and contribute to test automation.Investigate anomalies, analyse software and configuration problems and support their resolution.Prepare and manage test data and, where required, develop monitoring, testing or analysis tools.Contribute to IV&V activities involving EUMETSAT teams, external partners and other engineering service providers. What makes this role interesting?Work directly on the Copernicus CO2M mission, a major European Earth Observation programme.Work with real satellite data-processing chains rather than isolated software components.Gain exposure across Systems Engineering, Ground Segment engineering, software and verification.Work with technologies including CCSDS/CFDP, automated testing, Python/Bash and CI/CD environments.Contribute to systems that will support the monitoring of CO₂ and other atmospheric information for environmental and climate applications. What we're looking for:Mandatory:Excellent written and spoken English.Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline. At least 3 years of demonstrated professional experience in Systems Engineering and IV&V, preferably at System and/or Ground Segment level within the space or Earth Observation domain.Proven experience in verification and validation of data-processing systems and/or processors, including end-to-end processing chains.Experience preparing test specifications, test procedures, test data and test reports.Experience with requirements engineering, requirements traceability and requirements-management tools, such as DOORS.Knowledge of space and Ground Segment engineering processes and software lifecycles, ideally ECSS.Experience with formal testing and verification processes.Strong technical documentation, analytical and communication skills.Desired:Experience with CCSDS / CFDP.Experience with L0/L1/L2 processing chains.Experience with DOORS and/or VERDI.Python and/or Bash scripting.Experience with automated testing and CI/CD, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or Docker.Experience with Jira/Xray or other test-management tools.Experience with CCSDS and/or NetCDF test data.Experience with VCDs and
