Terra Quantum is seeking a highly skilled Solutions Architect to lead the development and deployment of our scientific computing software into a robust, scalable SDK for on-premises and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering and cloud solutions and a keen understanding of scientific or research-based software applications. The Solutions Architect reports to the Director of Advanced Technologies, supporting continuous research and development and interacting with scientists and software developers. With a clear and customer-oriented mindset, the Solutions Architect understands all the technical aspects of developing scalable, easy-to-use, practical, and intuitive software.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable architecture for deploying scientific computing applications.
- Co-develop and maintain an SDK encapsulating scientific algorithms, enabling easy integration and scalability.
- Collaborate with research teams to understand their software needs and translate these into technical specifications.
- Oversee the development of web interfaces that interact with the cloud-deployed SDK.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of the prototype development, from initial architecture to ongoing maintenance.
- Work closely with the development team to establish continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on software best practices and innovations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor\’s or Master\’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Solutions Architect or in a similar role, focusing on cloud technologies and software development.
- Familiarity with scientific computing applications and the ability to interface with research teams effectively.
- Good knowledge of Python and C++ and best coding practices.
- Strong knowledge of cloud service providers, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, e.g., Docker.
- Experience with microservice architecture, running production and distributed systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, as well as the ability and desire to teach and guide junior colleagues.
- Openness to learn new technologies that might be out of the scope of the current skill set.
