As our Simulation Engineer, you will be part of the Digitalization & Innovation Processes team in R&D and play a key role in advancing simulation-driven development. You will lead the development and application of advanced simulation technologies and digital twins to accelerate process development, enable data‑driven manufacturing, and support scalable, efficient product and process innovation across the organization.

Your tasks include:

  • Develop and apply advanced simulation models for manufacturing processes such as mixing, compounding, and coating, including model validation through real and virtual experiments.
  • Translate experimental data into robust material and process models, defining boundary and initial conditions.
  • Advance simulation capabilities in CFD and specialized tools (e.g. ANSYS, Ludovic, SimPla) to enable digital twins, virtual product development, and data‑driven scale‑up.
  • Contribute to the development of structured digital representations and ontologies for manufacturing processes.
  • Provide input to technology roadmaps and make recommendations for simulation and digitalization investments.
  • Build and maintain internal and external technology networks, including scouting and evaluating new tools and partners.
  • Support recruiting activities and provide technical guidance to students and early‑career researchers.
  • PhD in a Science or Engineering discipline, or Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Background in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer/Materials Science, or a related field; hands‑on processing experience is an advantage.
  • Strong expertise in CFD simulation using tools such as ANSYS, OpenFOAM, or comparable software.
  • Experience modeling and optimizing processes such as mixing, compounding, coating, and/or drying.
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++.
  • Familiarity with digital twin concepts and integration with process data is a plus.
  • Proficient English skills; basic German knowledge is an advantage.
