We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell\’s High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation aircraft. This position will be based in Western Europe, preferably near Cologne or Brussels.
Certification & Regulatory Specialist
The primary responsibility is to coordinate between the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) or the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (UKCAA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the USA and Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) in Canada to achieve validation of Bell products. The regulatory specialist will also monitor EASA and UKCAA regulations and changes and provide advice to Bell sales and marketing and commercial programs teams on regulatory requirements in Europe. A secondary responsibility will be to engage in regulatory affairs with EASA, the European Parliament, and European Commission in support of the Bell Government Affairs team.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Take primary responsibility for building and managing the relationships with EASA and UKCAA
- With the support of Bell colleagues, coordinate validation visits and activities for Bell TCs and STCs with EASA and UKCAA
- Attend Bell/EASA Panel meetings in person at the Cologne EASA office whenever possible
- Coordinating and hosting senior leader Bell and regulatory engagement meetings in Europe
- Provide guidance and direction to Commercial Programs on commercial product validation with EASA and UKCAA by supporting preparation and review of CRI and CAI positions
- Provide guidance and direction to Commercial Programs and Sales and Marketing on European regulatory requirements and emerging requirements. This includes requirements related to initial airworthiness, continuing airworthiness, operations, training, maintenance, etc.
- Participate in European stakeholder advisory bodies and Associations as a certification Subject Matter Expert and make recommendations for additional Bell participation as applicable
- Member of the International Certification team reporting to the Sr. Manager, International Certification
Skills and Experience
- Ability to work independently and effectively with remote oversight
- Respected and knowledgeable Aerospace professional with Rotorcraft knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of EASA regulations and guidance material required. Working knowledge of FAA, TCCA, and other foreign CAA regulations preferred
- Understanding of product validation principles and bilateral airworthiness agreements
- Aerospace experience working with regulatory agencies and/or industry advocacy groups
- Passion for product certification and validation
- Excellent communication skills and fully fluent in the English language (written and spoken)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- 10 years cumulative project management, certification, flight test, or engineering experience
- Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience
- Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered
