Working Pattern: 17 days on / 4 days off for travelling candidates

The Opportunity
We are representing a highly established and award-winning M&E contractor with a strong track record of delivering technically complex projects across Europe.
The business operates across a range of sectors including data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial, logistics, healthcare and commercial developments, with projects spanning Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe.
Due to continued project activity, they are looking to appoint an experienced Procurement Lead in Frankfurt. This is a senior procurement position with responsibility across both strategic procurement and live project purchasing, giving the successful candidate significant influence over supplier strategy, commercial outcomes and project delivery.
This is an opportunity to move beyond purely operational buying and have a genuine impact on category strategy, supplier relationships, tender competitiveness and supply-chain risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of strategic procurement across major M&E categories, including electrical equipment, cable, switchgear, pipework and associated equipment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key manufacturers, distributors and supply-chain partners.
- Work closely with Estimating teams during tender stages, providing up-to-date pricing, supplier intelligence, lead-time information and market feedback.
- Negotiate commercial arrangements including framework agreements, rebates, pricing structures and fixed-price periods.
- Monitor exposure to commodity fluctuations, particularly across materials such as copper and steel.
- Manage project purchasing and call-off requirements, ensuring materials arrive in line with the construction programme.
- Coordinate deliveries on live projects while taking account of site storage capacity and programme priorities.
- Identify potential supply-chain issues at an early stage, particularly around long-lead items and reliance on single-source suppliers.
- Develop alternative sourcing options and contingency plans where required.
- Work alongside technical and project teams to assess alternative products and suppliers that can provide improvements in cost, availability or lead time while remaining within project specifications.
- Manage supplier pre-qualification and ongoing performance reviews, covering areas such as commercial strength, health & safety, ethical standards, service delivery and sustainability.
- Produce procurement and supplier analysis for senior operational and finance stakeholders.
- Provide insight into market movements, inflation and supplier performance.
- Contribute to responsible and sustainable procurement initiatives, including consideration of lower-carbon materials and project environmental targets.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- 7+ years of procurement experience, with a significant proportion gained within M&E, building services or construction.
- A strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical construction materials and equipment, including LV distribution, switchgear, HVAC equipment, pipework and specialist systems.
- Experience across both strategic/category procurement and project-based purchasing.
- Strong commercial and supplier negotiation skills, including experience with agreements, rebates, pricing protection and fixed-price arrangements.
- A track record of managing supply-chain risks, long-lead equipment and alternative sourcing.
- Experience identifying and implementing value-engineering or alternative-supply opportunities.
- The ability to work effectively with Estimating, Project Delivery, Operations and Finance teams.
- Strong supplier and manufacturer management experience.
- Experience using ERP or e-procurement systems such as SAP, COINS, RedSky or similar platforms.
- Strong Excel skills, particularly around procurement, supplier and spend analysis.
- A degree-level qualification in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related discipline.
- MCIPS would be advantageous but is not essential.
Package & Working Arrangement
- €100,000 basic salary
- Frankfurt-based position
- 17 days on / 4 days off for candidates travelling into Frankfurt on rotation
- Flights and accommodation provided for rotational travellers
- The travel package is intended for candidates based outside the local area and does not represent an additional allowance for locally based employees.
