Role Overview
Become part of a multinational team developing the cross-platform combat system of the future, thereby strengthening European defence cooperation. MGCS (Main Ground Combat System) is a Franco-German armaments program aiming to replace Leopard 2 and Leclerc main battle tanks with a high-tech ground combat system by 2040. The program aims to strengthen the European pillar in NATO, promote key Franco-German technologies, and consolidate the European land systems industry.
Your Mission
- Collaborate closely with technical architects to define the MGCS architecture at the system-of-systems level and instantiate this architecture across four primary systems.
- Capture and analyze operational needs, articulating and formalizing them precisely.
- Propose and advocate for innovative solutions and technology roadmaps aligned with strategic business visions.
- Design solution architectures considering stakeholder expectations, technical solutions, costs, risks, and schedules.
- Create comprehensive documentation, including architecture justifications, design files, and system breakdowns.
- Validate lower-level specifications to ensure standards are met.
- Provide guidance during solution development and co-engineering approaches.
- Manage requirements, oversee performance evaluations, define interfaces, and facilitate stakeholder negotiations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Engineering background with at least 10 years of experience in architecture and engineering systems, especially land forces and deployed systems.
- Proficiency in operational concept descriptions, embedded systems, and constrained networks like TSN communication servers.
- Expertise in digital infrastructures (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), containerization (K8S), application services, cybersecurity, and safety standards; knowledge of navigation, observation systems, and UxV is advantageous.
- Experience working in multicultural environments, familiarity with NATO V4 architecture framework, and ability to communicate effectively with non-experts.
- Skilled in co-engineering practices, modeling tools like MBSE, and design experimentation.
- Proven leadership, proactive approach, excellent communication, and relationship-building skills.
