The Department of Virology at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) in Hamburg (Germany) is looking for the next possible date for a highly motivated
Postdoc (m/f/d)

Your tasks:
- Biomarker analysis of Lassa Fever patient samples from observational clinical trials and Phase II intervention trials (ELISA, Luminex-based assays)
- Support of immunological analysis of patient PBMCs (flow cytometry, Elispot, RT-PCR, RNA sequencing)
Your profile:
- PhD in natural sciences (biology, biochemistry or equivalent)
- profound experience in virological research; experience in S3 or S4 laboratories is advantageous
- theoretical and practical experience with RNA sequencing and biomarker analysis
- theoretical and practical experiences in immunology (flow cytometry, ELISA, histology)
- experiences in molecular biology
- willingness to work under conditions of safety levels 3 and 4
- willingness to conduct biomarker analysis as part of different research projects
- experience in training of PhD students, interns and master students
- independent and careful work
- excellent organizational skills and capacity to prioritize
- willingness to manage a cooperative research project with international partners
- excellent communication skills in English, in oral and written form
- team spirit and commitment to the working group and our partners in Africa
- fitness for service or travel in the tropics and readiness for short-term (about 4 weeks) research activities in Africa (1-2 times per year, 2-4 weeks)
The position is initially limited to two years and is remunerated in accordance with the German salary scheme for the public service (TV-AVH Hamburg).
Work in safety laboratories requires aptitude and a successful security clearance (Ü2).
