Civil / Structural Engineer – Battery Storage & Energy Infrastructure
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering and project delivery team working on major energy infrastructure projects across Germany.
The business is involved in the development and delivery of technically complex infrastructure projects and is continuing to expand its capabilities within the rapidly growing battery energy storage and power infrastructure sector.
This position will play a key role in the civil and structural design of utility-scale BESS facilities, substations and grid connection infrastructure, working closely with electrical engineers, energy specialists and project managers throughout the full project lifecycle.
The Role
As a Civil / Structural Engineer, you will take responsibility for the planning, coordination and technical delivery of civil and structural elements across a range of energy infrastructure projects.
Your responsibilities will include
- Civil and structural design for utility-scale battery storage facilities, substations and associated energy infrastructure.
- Planning and assessment of foundations, equipment bases, service buildings, transformer areas, steel structures and enclosure systems.
- Supporting the development of overall site layouts, including access roads, drainage, cable routes, internal infrastructure and other civil works.
- Reviewing technical documentation, drawings and calculations provided by EPC contractors, suppliers and other external stakeholders.
- Preparing technical specifications, scope documents and tender documentation for civil and structural packages.
- Supporting projects through the planning, procurement and construction phases, providing technical input where required.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams covering electrical engineering, grid connections, battery storage systems and project delivery.
- Ensuring designs are technically robust, practical to construct and aligned with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and support the successful delivery of projects.
Requirements for the position
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in structural and/or civil engineering design and project delivery.
- Experience with foundations, steel and concrete structures, buildings or wider infrastructure works.
- The ability to review and interpret technical drawings, calculations and engineering documentation.
- Experience preparing specifications and supporting tendering or procurement processes would be advantageous.
- Previous experience within energy infrastructure, substations, battery storage, power generation or industrial projects would be highly desirable.
- A proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to take ownership of technical work packages.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
- Fluent German and English language skills are essential.
- PLEASE NOTE
Fluent German at B2 level or above is essential for this position, alongside strong English communication skills.
