Senior HSE Manager / HSE Expert (Operations)

We are seeking a Senior HSE Manager / HSE Expert (Operations) to support a major industrial construction project in the Frankfurt region, Germany . This is a senior-level role focused on HSE strategy, systems, and leadership , rather than site-only supervision.

You will lead the setup and implementation of HSE management systems from early mobilisation, acting as the senior HSE authority within an international joint venture on a flagship lithium battery factory project .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the overall HSE strategy from project inception
• Ensure full compliance with German HSE legislation
• Act as senior HSE lead across the JV, contractors, and stakeholders
• Support early mobilisation and oversee high-risk construction activities
• Interface with authorities and promote a strong, proactive safety culture

Requirements

• 10–15+ years’ HSE experience on major industrial or infrastructure projects
• Proven experience setting up HSE systems from project start
• Strong knowledge of German HSE legislation
• Fluent German (spoken and written) – essential
• Senior-level leadership and stakeholder management capability
• Available on short notice
• Start: Ideally 1 February
• Engagement: Contract or permanent
• Duration: Initial 4–6 months, with strong potential to extend long term
• Location: Onsite in the Frankfurt region (accommodation available)
