Position Overview:

Serves as a German (GE) legal attorney and advisor within the HQ USAREUR-AF, OJA Client Services Division. Provides expert legal opinions on GE laws, precedents, and interpretations, advising eligible clients in the HQ USAREUR-AF and US Army Garrison, Wiesbaden (USAG Wiesbaden), and other areas based on expertise or conflict considerations.

Responsibilities include:

• Formulating, developing, and managing legal programs in Legal Assistance, Tax Assistance, and Preventive Law.
• Mentoring and training junior military and civilian attorneys and staff.
• Translating complex legal documents between German and English.
• Providing legal services on family law, estate law, consumer law, real estate, insurance, tax, landlord/tenant issues, and more.
• Advising on civil, criminal, and administrative law matters, and guiding clients through legal procedures.
• Monitoring German legal developments and advising leadership accordingly.
• Participating in legal briefings, training, and policy development.
• Supervising and training paralegal and clerical staff.

Education & Training Requirements:

Applicants must have a degree from a German university with a major in German law and possess the 1st and 2nd State Examinations. Foreign law degrees are not credited for this role. For the C-09 level, an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Language Proficiency:

English and German at CEFR Level C1 is required.

Additional Requirements:

• Office automation skills.
• Driver\’s license class B.
