Job Description:
Rethinking Planning Processes – Join Us as a Senior Computational Design Developer!
At STRABAG Innovation and Digitalisation, we are shaping the future of construction today. In collaboration with STRABAG’s design and execution teams, our Generative Design unit develops cutting-edge digital tools to enhance and optimize design and construction processes.
By transforming planning expertise into algorithms, we translate complex workflows into software solutions. Leveraging AI-driven methods, we aim to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and automation in construction.
We are looking for creative minds to push the boundaries of computational design and drive digital transformation in construction. If you’re passionate about innovation, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities:
- Development & Implementation: Design and implement computational design processes, pipelines, and tools to optimize construction workflows. Develop software prototypes, test them in real-world projects, and scale them across the organization.
- Conception & Prototyping: Create prototypes to explore and validate computational design methods. Work in an agile framework, collaborating with product owners, stakeholders, and users throughout the requirements and development phases.
- Research & Innovation: Stay at the forefront of computational design, integrating generative AI methods and automation to enhance efficiency and sustainability. Expand collaboration further with universities and research institutions.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop solutions, clearly communicate ideas in meetings and presentations, and contribute to expanding the Generative Design team.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in computational design, geometric modeling, and algorithmic thinking. Experience with Rhinoceros software and the RhinoCommon API is preferred.
- Research & Innovation: An understanding of generative AI methods (e.g., improving software usability through natural language inputs and Variational Autoencoders) and optimization strategies (e.g., genetic algorithms, multi-objective optimization). Ability to stay updated with cutting-edge advancements in computational design and automation.
- Construction & Design Knowledge: A successfully completed degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Natural Sciences with a solid understanding of construction workflows, from design and planning to execution.
- Agile Development & Collaboration: Experience working in an agile development environment, actively engaging with product owners, stakeholders, and users throughout the requirements and development phases. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop effective solutions within a team.
What We Offer:
In addition to a secure job, we offer innovative, technologically challenging projects in an international environment. Take advantage of the opportunity to develop personally and professionally within a friendly, competent team. We encourage flexible working – adjustable hours, work-from-home options, and part-time work are welcomed. In Austria, the gross annual salary starts from EUR 60,000, governed by the Kollektivvertrag für Angestellte der Baugewerbe und der Bauindustrie, with potential above-market salary depending on qualifications and experience. In Germany, the salary is governed by the Bundesrahmentarifvertrag für das Baugewerbe. Please upload your application documents (CV, certificates, and a portfolio with work examples) in English or German. We look forward to hearing from you!
