Job Description:

As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.
Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).

Your responsibilities:

  1. Manage all Engineering Flight Physics activities related to Aerodynamic, Loads, Dynamics, Performance, Flight Mechanics, Noise and Weight & Balance of Helicopters.
  2. Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the multi-disciplinary team to support the development of Rotors, Transmission, Airframe Structures, Airframe systems and Avionics.
  3. Develop and perform overall technical planning and provide airworthiness verification support.
  4. Work closely with engineering leadership (Head of Departments) and other subject matter experts for the review and approval of engineering design solutions.
  5. Coordinate:
  1. Flight physics in-house models/tools development in addition to standard tools (Camrad, FlightLab, Nastran) for simulating physical phenomena specific to Aircraft.
  2. Model validation process in line with CS27 requirements.
  3. Aircraft level flight physics specifications/technical data activity.
  4. Compliance demonstration (Type Certification) documents.
  • Facilitate the continuous improvement of a rapid-turn design-to specification process.
  • Minimum Qualifications:

    1. University degree in Aerospace Engineering.
    2. Proficient knowledge in:
    1. Rotorcraft Flight physics domains, minimum 10 years.
    2. CS 27/29.
    3. Aircraft and component Flight and Ground tests.
    4. Aircraft qualification and certification, preferably in civil domain.
    5. Aircraft in-service experience.
  • Experience in analyzing and coordinating simulation, test data-model validation activity.
  • Minimum 3 years of Leadership experience.
  • English, minimum C1 (verbal & written).
