ph3Context Environment /h3 pbTotalEnergies Trading Shipping operates at the heart of international energy markets, bringing together trading activities across a broad range of energy commodities and financial products. /b /p pBased in Geneva, you will join the bTrading Accounting team supporting TotalEnergies Gas Power activities /b, covering natural gas, LNG, power, emissions and derivatives. You will support a large and complex trading activity involving physical and financial transactions across multiple markets, counterparties and systems. /p pTrading Accounting plays a key role in ensuring that trading activities are accurately reflected in the financial statements and supported by robust accounting processes and controls. The team works closely with Trading Control, Middle Office, Back Office, Treasury, Risk Control, Tax, IT and Financial Reporting. /p pAs Senior Trading Accountant, you will take ownership of complex accounting and control topics and act as a senior point of reference within the team. Beyond producing accurate financial information, you will be expected to understand the underlying trading activity, investigate issues across systems and processes, challenge existing ways of working and drive topics through to resolution. /p pThe position combines trading accounting, analysis, controls, stakeholder management and continuous improvement, with a high level of autonomy and exposure across the organisation. /p h3Activities /h3 ul liEnsure the accurate accounting representation of trading activities across gas, LNG, power, emissions and derivatives. /li liReconcile trading system outputs with accounting records and investigate discrepancies across positions, deals, accruals, invoices and financial systems. /li liReview complex accounting and operational issues, identify posting, valuation or process weaknesses, and coordinate their resolution with the relevant teams. /li liAnalyse outstanding balances, aged debt, accruals, prior-period adjustments and unresolved transactions. /li liPerform root-cause analysis on recurring issues and work closely with Trading Control, Middle Office, Back Office and IT to implement sustainable solutions. /li liOversee key aspects of derivatives accounting, including exchange-traded futures, deliveries, realised results and variation margin. /li liManage intercompany PL and balance sheet reconciliations and work with Group entities to resolve discrepancies. /li liMaintain and continuously enhance the internal control environment, including balance sheet and SOX controls. /li liAct as a key contact for internal and external auditors on topics within your area of responsibility and ensure timely resolution of audit matters. /li liSupport the Trading Accounting Manager and progressively take ownership of delegated topics and responsibilities. /li liAct as a senior point of reference for less experienced members of the team and contribute to their development. /li liLead or contribute to projects related to ERP and ETRM systems, reconciliation tools, reporting solutions and automation. /li liTranslate accounting and business requirements into system and process improvements, participate in testing and support implementation. /li liUse data and digital tools to improve the efficiency, reliability and scalability of Trading Accounting processes. /li /ul h3Candidate Profile /h3 pYou hold a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline and have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience. /p pPrevious experience within energy, commodities or trading would be highly valued. Candidates from Big Four or similar audit/advisory environments with strong exposure to trading, financial instruments or complex transactional businesses are also encouraged to apply. /p h3You bring: /h3 ul liStrong accounting expertise and a good understanding of how transactions flow through a trading organisation. /li liPrevious exposure to commodity trading and/or derivatives accounting. /li liGood knowledge of IFRS and/or relevant statutory accounting requirements. /li liStrong analytical and reconciliation skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues and understand their root causes. /li liA high level of autonomy and the ability to take ownership of topics from identification through to resolution. /li liStrong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to interact with Trading, Finance, control functions, IT and auditors. /li liExperience working with ERP and/or ETRM systems. /li liAdvanced Excel skills and a strong interest in data, digitalisation and process automation. /li liExperience with Power Query, Power BI, SQL and/or Python would be a strong asset. /li liStrong numerical and quantitative skills. /li liA continuous improvement and project management mindset. /li liSelf-motivated, with a focus on enhancing processes, controls and operational efficiency. /li liFull professional proficiency in English. /li /ul pYou are rigorous and analytical while remaining pragmatic and solution-oriented.
