We are seeking an experienced Grid Connection Engineer to support the grid connection of a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter project in Germany. The successful candidate will ensure that the converter and its AC interface meet the technical requirements of the relevant grid operator, supporting compliance activities and readiness for energisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate grid connection activities with the transmission system operator (TSO), converter supplier and project team.
- Review technical documentation, engineering deliverables and power system studies against applicable grid connection requirements.
- Support grid compliance testing, technical verification and energisation readiness checks.
- Monitor and track outstanding technical queries, comments and approvals through to resolution.
- Coordinate with engineering teams and external stakeholders to resolve grid connection issues.
- Ensure project documentation aligns with applicable German grid codes and technical standards.
- Prepare clear progress updates, technical status reports and compliance summaries for the project team.
- Support the project team throughout the grid connection and energisation process.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
- Working knowledge of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems or converter-based grid connections.
- Familiarity with German grid codes, transmission system operator (TSO) requirements and grid connection procedures.
- Experience reviewing technical studies, engineering documentation and grid compliance requirements.
- Understanding of grid compliance testing, energisation procedures and technical approval processes.
- Strong communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Professional proficiency in English is required.
- German language skills are advantageous.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers, grid operators and multidisciplinary project teams.
