Industrial Designer in München

What we’re looking for

The day-to-day

• Own industrial design across aircraft, ground-control equipment, accessories, transport, charging and operator-facing hardware.

• Translate mission context, operator workflows, environmental constraints and technical architecture into physical product concepts.
• Create sketches, CAD surfaces, mock-ups and functional prototypes to make design decisions early and tangible.
• Work directly with mechanical, electronics, RF, thermal, production and systems engineers so design improves the architecture.
• Develop a coherent design language across the portfolio, including form, material, colour, finish, labelling and physical interaction.
• Design for field use: gloved handling, visibility, setup speed, maintainability, transport, cleaning, damage tolerance and low-light operation.
• Support DFM/DFA, supplier discussions and the transition from prototypes to repeatable production.
• Use user observation, testing and failure evidence to refine designs; join field tests and demonstrations regularly.
• Balance speed, cost, ruggedness, signature, mass and manufacturability without losing product coherence.
• Create design documentation and specifications that survive engineering change and production scale-up.

You should apply if you

• Have 4+ years in industrial design for technical, rugged, mobility, robotics, aerospace, defence or professional hardware products.

• Have an excellent portfolio showing concept development through production, including constraints, trade-offs and physical prototyping.
• Bring strong CAD and visualisation capability plus hands-on model-making and rapid-prototyping skills.
• Understand materials and processes such as injection moulding, composites, machined parts, additive manufacturing and soft goods.
• Can work at startup speed, accept incomplete inputs and iterate closely with engineering.
• Bring low ego, strong judgement and a willingness to test designs outside the studio.

Nice to haves

• Experience with UAVs, aerospace, defence, robotics or ruggedised field equipment.
• Experience designing complete product families rather than isolated products.
• Knowledge of human factors, maintainability, transport systems or field repairability.
• Experience taking products through supplier selection, tooling, first articles and production ramp.
