Major Duties: Develops plans and provides various training classes for the entire installation population, tailored to the needs of different audiences (i.e., Military personnel, LN’s, DPW personnel, child care providers, and other tenants as well as children). Develops theoretical and practical fire prevention classes to include fire extinguisher classes, identifying required in-house and outside resources tailored to different target groups. Schedules and coordinates independently providing classes based on customer requests or command initiatives. Reviews those classes regularly for adequacy. Based on fire statistics, lessons learned during inspections and other indicators, develops and suggests to the Assistant Chief Fire Prevention or Fire Chief additional initiatives. If approved by the Fire Chief, plans and develops ICW other fire inspectors detailed action plan to include developing training material, budgeting for support material such as handouts, and coordination with all other outside agencies to implement the program. Instructions are held in English as well as in German language depending on the composition of class members. Ensures that the training facilities are adequate and meet minimum regulatory requirements. Procures necessary training aids and audiovisual equipment. Coordinates with USAG agencies and units to establish live-fire training areas to provide realistic training exercises. Establishes and maintains contact with local economy fire departments to cooperate in live exercises, suitable emergency situations, use training areas, etc. Procures suitable training aids, such as salvaged or wrecked automobiles, old fire protection equipment, alarms, sprinkler systems, etc., to provide realistic test conditions. Through channels, procures or orders classroom training aids, equipment, information material, etc. Provides instruction in all aspects of fire protection, prevention, and control. Performs briefings for announced exercises to cover all facets of the exercise and to prepare, motivate and challenge participants. After the exercises, holds drill critiques to discuss methods for correcting exercise deficiencies and to give guidance for improvement of future performance. Monitors the instruction given by other individuals for subject content and adequacy of teaching methods. Maintains and updates documentation of training program, establishes individual training evaluation records for all firefighters. Prepares, maintains, and updates fire protection training records for each training session and records type, amount, costs, organization, and participation in the training program. Prepares regular statistical and narrative reports as required to reflect training status and progress, for supervisory review and approval. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: C-5A: Following are minimum qualification requirements for entry into any fire protection and prevention position to which this qualification standard applies: 1. Applicants for this position must have E&T Level I (completed lower secondary school / Hauptschulabschluss). 2. Possession of a valid host Nation Class B and Class C motor vehicle operator license. 3. Fully meet the English Language Proficiency Level C1 requirement. 4. Ability to operate a Computer. 5. Pass a medical evaluation as determined appropriate by US Army authorities. 6. Requires the following certificates if required for the specific position according to the Feuerwehrdienstvorschrift 2 (FwDV2): (a) A host Nation Emergency Medical Technician certificate. (b) A fire fighter certificate (abgeschlossene Feuerwehrgrundausbildung). (c) A SCBA certification (Ausbildung zum Atemschutzgeraetetraeger). (d) A radio communicator certificate (Ausbildung zum Sprechfunker). 7. A license to operate all emergency firefighting equipment. 8. A certification to service and recharge fire extinguishers. 9. Complete and pass required medical examinations as determined appropriate by US Army authorities. 10. Successfully complete the prescribed in-house US Army firefighting training during the first 24 months of appointment and successfully complete recurring renewal training as well as training to operate newly acquired equipment and specialized training to keep all required certifications up-to-date and valid. Position Title Grade Years of Experience: Inspector (Fire Prevention/Training) C-5A: 2 years. Experience Requirements: Creditable experience must be directly related work experience in the same area of specialization to the position to be filled. The experience could have been gained in the actual performance of duties such as: (1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) rescue operations; (3) detecting, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; (4) operation of fire communications equipment; (5) controlling hazardous material incidents; and/or (6) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention. However, the below stated amount of experience must be directly and specifically related to the position to be filled. Substitution of the above experience requirements with higher level formal education is not permissible. Office Automation skills are required. Drivers license class B required (C and CE preferred). LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL: English Language Proficiency Level C1 required. German Language Proficiency Level C1 required.

Conditions of Employment: • G26.3, G25 /G41 / G37 / G20 / FEV/HepB. • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY), within Germany, occasionally required. • Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs required (ca. 45 kg). • Situational Telework possible.
