Summary

You will serve as a Training Technician at the National Detector Dog Training Center (NDDTC). You will work closely with the specialists in the field of training and education to ensure accomplishment of education and training programs for Plant Protection and Quarantine(PPQ), Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Department of Homeland Security(DHS) employees, and/or other stakeholders (i.e., federal, states department of agriculture).

Major Duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

  • Procures potential canines from various sources (i.e., public and private shelters, rescue groups, breeders, vendors and private owners) - Newnan, GA only.
  • Conducts an initial evaluation of canines to determine suitability for the PPQ detector dog program - Newnan, GA only.
  • Serves as primary technical support provider with emphasis on learning management systems and authoring tools and their uses to enhance training delivery.
  • Assists with the integration of technology into the training classroom.
  • Assists training specialists with online course delivery.
  • Prepares and finalizes all administrative documents in support of all agriculture detector dog training courses delivered by the NDDTC - Newnan, GA only.
  • Collects, gathers, tabulates, and summarizes data collected from databases and/or applications for submission to management.

This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
