Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following:

  • Program management - the incumbent serves as a senior manager exercising leadership and direction for the Field Office.
  • Budget development - plans, negotiates, and executes budgets and serves as the accountable official for the Field Office.
  • Senior Leadership/Advisor/Representative - the incumbent serves as an expert consultant and provides authoritative advice to assigned employees, senior management and other officials concerning complex scientific, political, and economic issues; prepares positions papers; reviews documents and plans; and makes implementation decisions.
  • Human Capital Management - the incumbent performs the full range of supervisory and managerial duties and responsibilities over assigned staff and organizational elements.
  • Liaison, Outreach and Communication - the incumbent represents the Service on task forces, committees, working groups and other special programs and details and is knowledgeable and skilled in relaying information on policy, planning, and management.
